Vietnam's shoes & leather industry is booming, target to become one of the most important exporters in Asia

According to statistics from Vietnam Leather and Footwear Association, Vietnam's footwear exports reached to the new highest record 6.2 billion in 2011, became the 4th largest shoe and leather supplier country. The growth was attributed mainly due to the European Commission’s removal of anti-dumping duties against Vietnamese shoes and leather industry. What's more, Vietnam Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) has recently announced the new overall plan for the shoes and leather industry's development until 2020 with visions towards 2025, point out that the footwear sector will be covered into a spearhead export industry of the national economy, dominate domestic market. The plan also indicates the export turnover of footwear reach US 9.1 billion, US14.5 billion and US21 billion in 2015, 2020 and 2025 respectively. It’s strongly believed that this huge market potential would be beneficial for shoes & leather companies from ASEAN where known as the most important trade partner for Vietnam at present and in future.
